Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders are sold by the authorized gas agencies of LPG Distributors of Maharashtra State. Few of the prominent LPG distributors in Pune are Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas. These cylinders are required to be booked from your respective gas centre and then it is delivered at your doorstep. However, the rising prices, cap on the number of cylinders and inconvenient process involved in procuring LPG cylinders have paved way for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) among the domestic, industrial and commercial consumers.
A similar problem is faced by the customers who need fuel in the form of petrol and diesel for transport vehicles. Currently, the petrol and diesel are supplied at various pump outlets of Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, Shell, Reliance and various others. However, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinders are gradually becoming a preferred alternative as they are cheaper than the conventional sources of fuel, increase the mileage of vehicles and environment friendly.
To meet the challenges posed by LPG cylinders, petrol and diesel, Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) was set up in 2006. MNGL aims to provide clean and environmental friendly fuel in the form of CNG and PNG in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and other neighbourhood areas.
