The Chakreshwar Temple is an ancient holy shrine of Lord Vishnu. According to the popular legend, King Dasharatha had fought with Rakshasa in this holy ground. The wheel of the chariot of the king was stuck near the Chakreshwar pond. Following the rescue of his wife Kaikeyi, the king had endowed his wife with three wishes, one of them being the exile of Shri Ramachandra. This has lead to the unfolding of the actions of epic Ramayana. In the ageing Chakreshwar Temple, one can observe the Varah Avatar that is the third Avatar of Lord Vishnu.
