Pune the cultural capital of Maharashtra is the vibrant and exotic city with mix blend of cultural traits and modernization. City is paradise for tourists especially those who are food lovers. Unlike typical Indian food the cuisines in Pune also serve the food prepared having high calories and chillies. Apart from this various other ingredients like pepper, garlic, cardamom and cloves are used to make food tempting and spicy. The major constituents include Jowar and Bajra. Most of the food is prepared in Ground Nut Oil.

Apart from traditional Udipi, Kolhapuri and Maharashtrian cuisines one can also enjoy the mouth watering taste of  South and North Indian dishes in huge fleet of restaurants and road side stalls located in every corner of the city. Besides this if a person wants to go continental dishes like Chinese, Japanese, Thai etc then there are numerous 5 star hotels to cater their taste.

Visit to Pune is incomplete without enjoying the taste of famous Vada Pav, Shrewsbury Biscuits, Maharashtrian thali and various mouth watering dishes.

Vada Pav: It is said that one who did not tasted the taste of Vada Pav in Pune his visit to Pune is meaningless. It is one of the most liked and quick satisfying food item. These vada pavs are extremely tasty and low priced. The city is acquainted with few famous vada pav selling shops. These vada pavs are served with special Indian Chutney.

Shrewsbury Biscuits: These special biscuits are available only at one shop known as Kayani Bakery. People from different corners of city stay in queue for their chance to get these biscuits from this shop. Established in 1955 the Kayani  Bakery is undoubtedly the best bakery Pune has. 

Maharashtrian Thali: It is an another mouth watering dish of Pune which has made the Punekars passionate about its taste. The thali includes 15 items served in it including the some famous Maharashtrian dishes such as potato vada with chutney, surali wadi, toor dal, vegetable curry, fresh buttermilk, spicy Maharashtrian rice and tomato sauce.

Apart from above famous dishes there are various dishes offering the mouth watering dishes to the local people and tourists. Some of them are mentioned below:
